Wahid Masri
Founder & Managing Partner
Wahid is the Founder and Managing Partner of Akadia Capital Partners. He oversees the day-to-day management of the firm and all its investment decisions.
He started his career in Private Equity, investing across a wide range of industries. In this capacity, Wahid advised management and boards of directors on strategic capital allocation decisions. After catching the entrepreneurial bug, Wahid decided to launch and operate a waste management business where he grew it to service +60,000 residents and process +80 million LB of solid municipal waste annually. His success led to expanding the business to other cities and taking over the management of a state-of-the-art material recovery facility and doubling the processing capacity of that business.
Driven by his principles to expand his impact beyond his own company, Wahid joined the team of Sir Ronald Cohen at The Portland Trust, a London-based action-tank, where he led initiatives and investments focused on growing the high-tech and agribusiness sectors and spearheaded the development of the impact investment ecosystem, linking returns with social outcomes.
After completing his graduate degree, Wahid joined a New York based multi-family-office, where he invested in private and public companies and advised clients on preserving and growing their wealth. However, driven by the same entrepreneurial bug he caught early in his career, Wahid decided to launch Akadia Capital Partners to become a custodian of quality businesses and contribute to their growth and success.
Wahid holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Masters in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where he was an Emirates Leadership Fellow, and a B.S. in Accounting from Butler University.
Wahid grew up working at the family farm, where he helped raise cattle and sheep, grow vegetables, and harvest Medjool Dates during 110 Fahrenheit summers. With a love for nature, he surfs even during the freezing winters of the northeast; rock climbs and sets up new routes; and enjoys Brazilian-Jiu-Jitsu. When he’s not spending time with family and friends, he’s listening to the latest podcasts about history, psychology, or behavioral economics.
